TV review: Gogglebox episode 2

From Jenny doing her hair with a fork, to Leon feeding his sweater resulting in a good hoovering by his wife June, tonight’s episode of Gogglebox was hugely entertaining as always. Ellie and Izzi enjoyed George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year, with Ellie commenting accurately that George Clarke makes us all want to have an amazing space and the Siddiqui’s figure you can’t get more British than watching a program about sheds.

The Tapper Family viewed Fatal Attraction hidden behind pillows, because as Linda exclaimed, ‘It’s a fatal attraction, that’s why it’s called that.’  The Malone Family weren’t phased, suggesting Glen Close resembled Big Bird with her big eighties hair. Giles informs his wife Mary, ‘it’s a real lesson for people not to stray Mary.’ Classic.

Everyone was suitably moved by Tess Daley’s tribute to the legendary Bruce Forsyth, with not a dry eye in any of the Gogglebox households. Ralph Woerdenweber spoke for us all when he said ‘his shoes are too big for any one to fill.’

Hilariously the dress code memo seemed to have gone missing in Tremayne, Twaine and Tristan’s house as two of them turned up in matching trackies.

Drama was high once again watching Ambulance 999 On the Frontline when a newborn baby’s life hangs in the balance.  To everyone’s huge relief, paramedics save him with the tension causing Alison, George, and Alison’s daughter Helena to need a wee dram to recover.

There’s some awkward debate about Naked Attraction with Mary and Marina in Bristol earnestly declaring that if their friend Peggy watches it and she’s ninety something, it must be ok. In Wiltshire, Mary declares she can’t look at it, ‘Oh no, Natty it’s too intrusive.’ Giles gets himself into trouble after sounding like an expert and fortunately Mary becomes brave enough to come out of her book to declare ‘one of the contestants looks like a thumb, you can’t go out with a thumb.’ That’s got to be the line of the night, closely followed by Alison in Manchester’s suggestion you can buy sequins like those sported by the starkers lady on Naked Attraction, in the craft section of The Works. Brilliant stuff – welcome back Gogglebox.
