Friday night is Gogglebox night and tonight it was celebrated by Stephen and Chris cracking open a bottle of Prosecco and sharing a Walnut Whip. June wishes her mother-in-law had warned her about Leon, and Giles and Mary are having a spot of bother with an insect.
There was some light hearted entertainment as the Goggleboxers sat down to watch the new BBC talent show Even Better Than The Real Thing, which Stephen described a fancy version of Stars In Their Eyes. We saw impersonations of both George Michael and Dolly Parton and the families found their duet thoroughly amusing.
There was some political debate as ITV News covered Boris Johnson’s involvement with Brexit. Giles believes everything to Boris is a game and wonders what he is up to now while Lee and Jenny ponder over the Prime Minister’s choice of vehicle and come to the conclusion that Theresa May is too big to fit in a Morris Minor.
Onto this weeks Great British Bake Off which is Ellie and Izzi’s highlight of the week, and Giles and Mary discuss who is their favourite judge - Mary Berry or Prue Leith. Giles likes Prue, Mary likes Mary and Prue.
The Crystal Maze left the families in hysterics as one of the contestants made a fool of themselves during one of the tasks.
Next up was a Gogglebox favourite, Doctor Foster. The families were taken aback by how risqué the episode was with Giles commenting that Doctor Foster’s changing from ‘washing up eyes to come to bed eyes’ and Jenny telling the character Simon through the telly that his 'desert looks better than your main’.
The reactions to First Dates were absolutely superb, the families weren’t overly impressed by Pearse’s appearance as he arrived at the First Dates restaurant to find love. Stephen and Chris were shocked to see what Pearse’s potential love interest was wearing but The Michaels liked her confidence.
This episode was brilliantly entertaining from start to finish and is just what you need to get your weekend started!
