Gogglesprogs is alive with the sound of music! ★★★★

This week’s episode entailed the nation’s most witty children viewing various programmes from the timeless The Sound of Music, to ITV’s gleeful This Morning and the return of a much-loved Blind Date.

The episode initiated with Paul O’Grady’s Blind Date, where lucky man, Richard from Bristol, scored himself a junkyard golf date; perhaps not the same date Henry VIII took, who knows? Each of the three men were asked of what is their ‘inner’ animal, the responses varying from natural born predators, lion and bear, to a charismatic penguin. Macy was quick to jester at the Londoner’s ideology that his inner ‘kitty cat’ lion originated from Brazil. Though this philosophical question went down well, the first contestant of the show faced scrutiny from the sprogs for making ‘too much effort’, whereas our winning contestant received an awe over his ‘guns’. Following this was James’ presentation to Sam and Toby on how love affects the human heart, which was terrifyingly true.

Centred in this week’s episode was Philip Schofield, who had his ‘perfect’ appearance discussed by the children, in which Ashton claimed to be the marvellous work of ‘computer generated effects’ as well as whether the silver fox’s hair was a result of a dye for it being so unnaturally white. Accompanied by his co-star Holly, the pair on This Morning debated the sweet controversy surrounding Haribo’s star mixture. The duo read out lines of argument from Twitter towards whether the squishy white fried egg of the pack was in fact an egg, as a man on social media claimed for it to be a UFO. Connor was fast to respond to the morning broadcast with cynicism for its lack of purposeful contents.

Schofield then re-entered the screen with his latest show, Schofield’s South African Adventures. From previously diving with grinning great white sharks, Philip and his wife, Steph, moved back onto land with the mission of assisting the capture of an endangered rhino. The now rhino rescuers showed real concern over the inevitable extinction of rhinos, but were soon filled with rejoice as the rhino in question was carrying a baby. Whilst emotions were raised over the joy of the rhino’s pregnancy, Ashton pulled the witty one-liner 'I don't know why people don't just go to the barbers when they want ivory' – this boy could be the next world leader.

Along with the sarcastic comments, the children showed maturity when watching DIY SOS as they witnessed the upmost struggle of 17-year-old Antonia, and her family as she leads a life of confinement due to a rare disorder affecting her mobility and health overall. Though a hatred for Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen arose because of his lottery advert and fashion sense whilst on a construction site, the sprogs were very emotional to see the result of the renovated house. Molly even gave the show a hashtag of ‘you’re the best’ to express her joy!

Tonight’s episode ended with the classic, The Sound of Music. It was rather humourous to watch the kids compare the current parenting ‘norms’ to that of Captain Von Trapp; little did they realise that Nazi regime isn’t as widely practised in parenting. The show closed with the sofa stars singing along to the renowned ‘Do-Re-Mi’, a fitting ending to a week of Brexit negotiations.
