Vlogglebox Review – 10th July ★★★★

 Posted By Ailish Kearns

The Facebook video of wildlife crabs shows how different people from different countries and culture have their own traditions and interests. Here the video shows the Australian really getting into nature – perhaps another stereotype?  It just shows how bizarre people can be but also shows ignorance as individuals are often wrapped up in their own world and are amazed by animals in other countries. What about the wildlife in the UK?

Russell Kane and his video on politics indicates that everyone has their own opinion. Sophie has a point - why is he getting involved? People don’t necessarily take into account the video topics but the star of the show and the meaning behind some vlogs are lost.

The mind reading video is dramatic but it's engaging. Everyone is getting confused and Pete automatically gets defensive perhaps showing insecurity which a lot of people may be feeling about their mathematical capabilities. I did. It also shows sibling rivalry as Pete and Sophie try to benchmark their intelligence against each other.

In watching the sleep paralysis video the twins make reference to MSN. This shows how times have changed and technology has advanced quite dramatically even though we may not have realized it initially. Listening to the woman read the stories makes it seem scary with her monotone voice. It seems like you’re awake but you can't move which must be terrifying. "You're not awake but it feels like you're living it". It reminds me of Harry Potter as it just seems so surreal. Everyone tries to put themselves into that position but it’s a stance which a lot of people will take as you won’t understand until it happens to you.

LA Beast’s fatty food challenge is another food video on the internet, and these are being uploaded quite frequently. People don't believe that this happens but the videos encourage different people to try different eating adventure and watch more videos. You feel like you're there with him and see him struggling to eat and you cheer him on as the guys from Birmingham at the stadium are doing. The vlogger doing it may deter people from doing it further by their reaction, but more often than not this just aids to encouragement.

Uni Lad show a man bathing in Nutella like it’s a mud bath. It appears to almost be a Willy Wonka alternative. It's unreal and quite disgusting to watch when he attempt to eat the contents of the bath. The viewer have a point - how does he get clean now? Did he think of this? Maybe it is an indication we as a younger generation are “prim and proper” and care too much about the opinion of the public eye especially the older generation who may look down on this generation as being immature. Doesn’t this happen no matter how old you are?

The video of the Chimp asking a woman for a drink is somewhat funny and makes you realise just how intelligent animals are. The ground is wet indicating the chimp has already asked other people for a drink too. I saw this video but didn't realise that the ground was wet before which shows how different people look at things in different ways. All I saw was a chimp asking for a drink. This links back to episode 3 where there we photos of people almost like illusions to try grasp what can initially be seen but also dig a little deeper.

Overall I enjoyed episode 4 because it made me think more about how even I am part of the Vlogglebox world, not just as a reviewer!
