After the January blues and possible Valentine’s Day blues, one thing you should be looking forward to is our favourite families coming back to our screens for Gogglebox series 11. There is also the discounted chocolates and alcohol to take advantage of. All the quirky, armchair critics who have become part of our lives are back Friday the 23rd of February on channel four at 9pm. I, for one, cannot wait for the gossip and giggles and general goofiness from everyone on Gogglebox.
If you’re new to Gogglebox, it is a series about returning diverse families and friends who comment freely on what they believe to be the best and worst television, of the past week from the comfort of their own homes. Some are laid out on sofa’s, others are in funky armchairs, all giving their opinions and saying what we are all sat at home thinking.
What is most comforting is that these people are just like you and me - enjoying their friends, family and television, and this show displays how the television can bring people together. When I first started University, back in 2013, I used to watch Gogglebox and it helped me not feel as lonely. Gogglebox made me feel as if I were back with my family at home, and then I would phone my mum and we would discuss what had happened, from which person was the funniest, to if we had even watched any shows that were featured in the episode.
My favourite couple must be the diamond Hull duo, their facial expressions are honest and relatable. I look forward to the random appearances from pets, from the cute little poodles, to the big dogs, one of which is called Dave, and he’s my favourite for that name.
The Leeds lasses also have a special place in my heart because I am from Wakefield, so we’re basically sisters/best-friends and have similar accents. Safe to say there is at least one person or family in this show that we can all relate to and identify with.
From past seasons this show has displayed real, revelations, discussions, serious stories and emotions, I already know this season is going to be one of the best yet. This is a show that creates conversation, so if you watch, please Tweet and Facebook your favourite moments, and your opinions.
